The fact that home sales have slowed to a crawl and the average buyer is unable to qualify for a mortgage are still a concern of the affluent as is the deeper impact these facts are having on the national economy. Oddly, the economy itself is the second to last story in the news that is affecting the affluent’s economic outlook. Perhaps they are more concerned about the individual stories affecting the economy than the economy itself. Concern about housing peaked in August of this year.

Traditionally increasing oil and gas prices become more of a concern, for everyone, in the winter months than they are in the summer, as can be seen in the spikes for November 2006 and then again in November 2007. The affluent are not immune to this concern as well.

As the election draws closer, it can be easily predicted that the political climate will be more of a concern for the affluent, though a year ago it was more of a concern than both the Iraq War and oil and gas prices.
