The Stock Market is the factor most affecting investment plans today. Considering the continuing ups and downs the market is experiencing, this is not surprising. The Economic Environment is the second biggest concern, which is also not surprising, though this measure has dropped considerably as a concern since January.

There is little of concern to the affluent, these days, outside of the economy. Jobless claims hit a 26-year high and new home sales are at an all time low. Stock Market Conditions are a distant second as a story in the news most affecting the affluent’s economic outlook. Though the stock market and the economy are linked, the news has been focusing on the government economic bailout, the stimulus package, and many of the other markers of a troubled economy and a recession.

The fact that home sales have slowed to a crawl and the average buyer is unable to qualify for a mortgage are still a concern of the affluent as is the deeper impact these facts are having on the national economy. Oddly, the economy itself is the second to last story in the news that is affecting the affluent’s economic outlook. Perhaps they are more concerned about the individual stories affecting the economy than the economy itself. Concern about housing peaked in August of this year.

Though still eight months away, the upcoming election is weighing heavily on the minds of the Affluent and Millionaires. The hot Democratic race between Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton is getting a lot of incendiary media coverage and the almost assured Republican nomination of John McCain is causing a furor among political conservatives.
