Affluent Household Outlook: What a difference a year makes; a new low |

The Affluent Household Outlook dropped 5.3 points from to –7.2 to -12.5, a new all-time low. Since last year this time, the Household Outlook as dropped 28.8.
 The reality is that the Affluent and Millionaires haven’t had much good news in the last year and in the last few months in particular. Though the Outlook was up at 7.3 in August, it was still down 8.9 from August of the previous year.
Unsurprisingly, the Economy was the component that dragged down the Outlook this month, falling from –8 to –18.4. Household Assets rose from –21.2 to –13.6, perhaps in a correction from an over-reaction in September. On outlook components, Millionaires are more pessimistic in general. It is hard to expect a big change in sentiment during 2008. There is still too much sturm und drang now for the affluent household to really relax.
